Jason Parham writes for Wired about how people whose identities are “borrowed” for targeted phishing scams often hear from old friends or acquaintances they haven’t heard from in years, checking in to make sure that the email is legitimate. Which it isn’t! But now these two people are unexpectedly reconnected anyway, and wow, it’s been so long, how are you, you wanna get lunch and catch up?

The phenomenon reminds me of Text Your Friends, It Matters More Than You Think, which is surely the one periodical-article link of the current decade that I have shared more than any other.
